Odom’s Tennessee Pride is proud to be a good corporate citizen. Ethical stewardship of our resources is a key principle of our business model. We have been recognized in the key areas of environmental issues, humane animal handling, food safety, and personal safety.
Environmental Issues
At Odom’s Tennessee Pride, we are constantly striving to reduce our environmental footprint. We believe it is our responsibility to act with an ethical and environmental mindset, and continually strive to improve the management of our natural resources. Therefore, we have converted all of our corrugated boxes to 100% post consumer recycled fiber boxes.
“Harvesting the Urban Forest” is a process of utilizing the perfectly good fiber in old corrugated containers and mixed paper from large cities. This “Post Consumer” fiber becomes the raw material for new high performance containerboard.
Over the past year Tennessee Pride has achieved the following by purchasing 3,323.5 tons of 100% recycled corrugated packaging:
- Saved 56,500 trees
- Reduced local landfills by 8,309 cubic yards
- Reduced waste water by 13,294,000 gallons
- Saved 9,970,500 kwh of energy
- Saved 980.43 tons of CO2
Tennessee Pride has received a number of Pollution Prevention Awards from the city of Little Rock for our vigorous pollution prevention activities. Also, all Tennessee Pride locations participate in recycling and waste management reduction activities. We are dedicated to minimizing our environmental impact through research, ethical practices, and industry-leading processes.
Humane Animal Handling
A commitment to providing high quality, consistent, and safe products is the foundation of our animal handling programs. We have developed written policies and procedures that are reviewed on a continual basis and updated regularly. Each associate involved with animal handling is required to pass a certification course to insure only qualified individuals are handling our livestock.
Food Safety
At Tennessee Pride, food safety is our top company priority! We are industry leaders in food safety technology, driven by our philosophy of continual development and improvement in our food safety programs, methodology, and record keeping. Our job is to bring value to our customers and to the Tennessee Pride name by producing the safest pork sausage products in the marketplace.
Personal Safety
One of our key production facilities, located in Little Rock, AR. has received the American Meat Institute’s Award of Merit for its dedication in the areas of management commitment and employee involvement, worksite analysis and hazard prevention, safety and health training, and ergonomics, for the 3rd straight year. We have recorded over 2,000,000 safe hours!
